Title: MMA Stars fighter and World Team Trials Grappling champion Raphael Davis Q&A with TheMat.com

TheMat.com: What is your background, greatest accomplishments in college, and freestyle wrestling? What is your MMA experience?
Davis: I was an All-American for Cal State Bakersfield my senior year, qualified for the Olympic Team Trials in 2000 in Freestyle wrestling. I am currently 3-1 in my MMA career

TheMat.com: What got you interested in Grappling?
Davis: It was just a natural transition for me. I moved back to Los Angeles for work and knew I was done wrestling competitively, so I just started working on my jiu-jitsu. Plus, I started training with a number of different individuals that fight in the UFC, so I started to take grappling a little more seriously.

TheMat.com: How does it feel to be part of the Grappling World Team going to Switzerland?
Davis: It's great to be a part of this team. It seems to mean a whole lot more to me now that FILA is the governing body of this sport, giving it much more credibility. I am really interested in seeing how good my skills are on the ground with some of the best in the world!.... (continue to article)

Title: Shamrock Inc: Frank Talks Business and Brand Building

Despite having only six fights in the past nine years - all of them outside the UFC - Frank Shamrock has kept his name recognition high and built a multi-faceted business with almost 30 full-time employees. In a recent interview with MMAPayout.com, Shamrock described his keys to success, while offering some advice to anyone hoping to follow in his footsteps.

"I'm no closet genius," said Shamrock. "I learned through trial and error. It took me 7-8 years to build my business and it was a good time for me because the sport was small then. I was blessed in that way." But times have obviously changed. "The days of gun slinging and hanging out in this business are gone," he says. "The dollars are bigger and the sport of MMA keeps moving closer to the mainstream. Everyone's rushing to the sport because it's very popular and cool, but your brand needs to be consistent."

Shamrock business model in recent years includes 70% of revenue from fighting, 15-18% from licensing, and 12% from consulting. The latter consists of fees Shamrock earns from promotions like Elite XC, and in the past, UFC, offering advice and support. He takes cash and/or equity as payment, and sometimes will invest his own capital.... (continue to article)

Title: ESPN.com: No love lost between brothers Ken, Frank Shamrock

Brothers Ken and Frank Shamrock have sparred, both physically and verbally, for the better part of 15 years.

Older brother Ken, a UFC Hall of Famer, has said that younger brother Frank, a former UFC titleholder, is an ungrateful punk who disrespected their father, Bob.

Not to be outdone, Frank has accused Ken of guarding his turf with excessive zeal. He also accuses Ken of ruthlessly degrading him and labeling him a subpar talent.

In March, the mud slinging reached a different level of enmity, as Frank accused Ken of being a steroid abuser.

It comes as no surprise, then, that the brothers are on the cusp of settling the intra-familial drama that has simmered for so long. They have each signed a contract, in principle, to settle their family feud in a most public fashion: they will face off, in a cage, in a pay-per-view contest... (continue to article)
